Drive System Design & Integration

Our system solutions are based on a sound understanding of the engineering principles involved and, from discussions with your technical staff, on an understanding of mechanical functionality required and the interface with any existing or 3rd party supplied equipment. 

The importance of determining the correct initial control philosophy cannot be over emphasized and we will develop your control systems using our detailed knowledge of drive systems and control including: speed control, speed following, torque control, load sharing, position following and the use of double differential controllers,

Equipment Selection and System Development

Our engineers have years of experience in the application of all the major principles of motor control including: DOL starters, softstarts, open/closed loop AC vector, scalar AC, DC converters, servo etc. and can take advantage of their unique characteristics.

The selection of equipment depends on the requirements of the control system including:- fixed/variable speed, speed/torque response, positional and speed accuracy, drive functional requirements and, of course, budget!

Once the appropriate equipment selection has been made we can continue with the electrical and panel design, including integration with associated PLC and SCADA systems.  We develop software for drive modules and PLCs in-house using a variety of programming tools to provide you with a complete turn-key solution.

Panel Build

When it comes to panel build and wiring, Drives and Automation ensure your panels are built to the highest technical and aesthetic standards - we know that well laid out, neatly wired panels are easier to work on and more reliable, so that's what we build.

Working to our own rigorous in-house standards means we pay particular attention to safety, component clearances, heat dissipation and, most importantly, EMC.  Construction is to EN60204 with UL and EMC approval available on request.

All panels are subject to full functional test and inspection by our own engineers and drive modules are set up with parameters as far as possible.  Panels are dispatched with test and inspection certificates fully detailing the test and inspection criteria.
